Os PAUS são uma das bandas da música atual portuguesa que mais levou o nome e esta identidade do que é ser-se português – e lisboeta em particular -, um pouco por todo o mundo. A banda não se tem coibido de pegar nas malas, fim-de-semana após fim-de-semana, e partido para alguma cidade distante, onde possa mostrar tudo aquilo que vem absorvendo, e criando, da nova cultura musical que portugal tem vindo a desenvolver.
Os PAUS de hoje continuam a ser o Hélio Morais (igualmente cofundador dos Linda Martini), o Makoto Yagyu, o Fábio Jevelim e o Quim Albergaria (igualmente vocalista dos extintos Vicious Five).
Um baixo, teclados e uma bateria siamesa ainda são as ferramentas do seu ofício. Um ofício que foi mudando desde que pela primeira vez deram a beber da sua música no ep de 2010 , “É Uma Água”.O grupo já pisou inúmeros palcos nacionais, como NOS Alive, Vodafone Paredes de Coura, Super Bock Super Rock, Vodafone Mexefest, NOS Primavera Sound, Festival F, entre outros. Internacionalmente, para além de terem participado em festivais de showcases como Eurosonic (NL), Europavox (FR), MaMA (FR), SIM (BR) e SXSW (EUA), tocaram em grandes palcos como Primavera Sound de Barcelona (ES), pelo circuito de salas do Live Europe, pelo Le Guess Who? (NL), ATP (UK), Vida Festival, Low Festival e Festival De Les Arts (ES), Bananada (BR) ou pelo Micro Fest (BL).
15 anos de banda, 6 Álbuns (passando pelas editoras Enchufada, Valentim de Carvalho, Universal Music e Sony Music), 2, ep’s, e várias tours internacionais poderiam traduzir-se em comodismo, resignação, sensação de dever cumprido. Mas a ambição de continuar a construir o novo e de se colocar em causa ainda não terminou. E a sua viagem também não. O seu mais recente álbum é um sítio diferente, uma casa aberta a mais música e a mais músicos. Ao 6º disco a banda decidiu abraçar o imprevisto e transformam-se em PAUS e o CAOS, um formato novo que traz uma nova dimensão à sua música. Convidando o percussionista Iúri Oliveira, Thomas Attar para tocar guitarra e saz, e João Cabrita para o arranjo de sopros. Mais que um novo disco, este álbum é um guião para criação de todo um novo espetáculo.

PAUS are one of the contemporary Portuguese bands that have most actively carried the name and identity of what it means to be Portuguese—and specifically Lisboeta—around the world. The band has never hesitated to pack their bags, weekend after weekend, and head off to a distant city to showcase everything they’ve absorbed and created from the new musical culture that Portugal has been developing.

Today, PAUS continue to be Hélio Morais (also co-founder of Linda Martini), Makoto Yagyu, Fábio Jevelim, and Quim Albergaria (also the former vocalist of the now-defunct Vicious Five).
A bass, keyboards, and a “Siamese” drum kit are still their instruments of choice. It’s a craft that has evolved since they first offered a taste of their music on their 2010 EP, É Uma Água.

The group has played on countless national stages, including NOS Alive, Vodafone Paredes de Coura, Super Bock Super Rock, Vodafone Mexefest, NOS Primavera Sound, Festival F, among others. Internationally, they’ve participated in showcase festivals such as Eurosonic (NL), Europavox (FR), MaMA (FR), SIM (BR), and SXSW (USA), and performed on major stages including Primavera Sound in Barcelona (ES), venues across the Live Europe circuit, Le Guess Who? (NL), ATP (UK), Vida Festival, Low Festival, and Festival De Les Arts (ES), Bananada (BR), and Micro Fest (BL).

With 15 years as a band, six albums (released through labels like Enchufada, Valentim de Carvalho, Universal Music, and Sony Music), two EPs, and several international tours under their belt, one might expect complacency, resignation, or a sense of mission accomplished. But their ambition to keep building something new and to challenge themselves has not faded. And their journey isn’t over.

Their most recent album marks a different place—a home open to more music and more musicians. On this sixth record, the band chose to embrace the unexpected and transform into PAUS e o CAOS (PAUS and the CHAOS), a new format that brings a new dimension to their music. They invited percussionist Iúri Oliveira, Thomas Attar to play guitar and saz, and João Cabrita to arrange the brass section. More than just a new record, this album is a script for the creation of an entirely new show.
