Do fundo da “simplicidade comovente”, própria dos talentos genuínos e verdadeiramente únicos, Carlos Paredes dizia que “Geniais são as pessoas que respeitamos muito.” É com esse enorme respeito que Henrique Fraga, exímio guitarrista da nova geração, formado no mundo académico de Coimbra homenageia este nome maior da música portuguesa.

Pelas mãos de Henrique Fraga, convida o público a uma viagem que alia o notável talento deste solista num tributo em que, através de multimédia e em contacto direto com o público, são partilhados momentos, curiosidades, histórias e emoções que reforçam e reafirmam a dimensão e particular importância da obra de Carlos Paredes.

Criteriosamente escolhido, o repertório do espetáculo foi desenhado de forma a ser representativo de todas a fases e singularidades da obra de Carlos Paredes realçando, nomeadamente, as origens musicais mais próximas e familiares: Artur Paredes, seu pai, Gonçalo Paredes, seu avô e, nesse contexto, a ligação a Coimbra, eternizada pala Academia e pelas mãos de quem lá passa e por ele se inspira.

Reflete a vida, a obra e a importância do mestre para a guitarra de Coimbra e para a cultura portuguesa através do meu próprio exemplo de dedicação ao seu trabalho – há́ mais de vinte anos- sempre com espírito de missão artística e fonte de inspiração. Apesar de não ter tido a honra de o conhecer pessoalmente, contarei episódios surpreendentes da minha vida pessoal que contribuíram para que se criasse com ele uma ligação muito especial. Apresento um ou dois temas da minha autoria, como exemplos de inspiração da sua obra. Acho que o reconhecimento do mais alto valor artístico se expressa quando, além da interpretação fiel de uma obra, esta constitui o ponto de partida para uma nova criação.”

Transmontano de raiz, Henrique Fraga nasceu em Chaves a 20 de Julho de 1983. Passou pela guitarra elétrica e guitarra clássica. Cedo conheceu a Canção de Coimbra pela voz do seu pai, estudante da Universidade, que lhe fez despertar a vontade de aprender a tocar guitarra de Coimbra onde prosseguiu os estudos, na Faculdade de Farmácia, tendo ingressado em 2001, no mesmo dia em que se inscreve na Escola de Música da Secção de Fado da Associação Académica. Foi lá, pelas mãos do seu Mestre, o Dr. Jorge Gomes, que teve a privilegiada oportunidade de aprender este instrumento.

Through the hands of Henrique Fraga, the audience is invited on a journey that combines the remarkable talent of this soloist in a tribute where, through multimedia and direct contact with the public, moments, curiosities, stories, and emotions are shared, reinforcing and reaffirming the significance and special importance of Carlos Paredes’ work.

Carefully chosen, the repertoire of the show was designed to be representative of all phases and singularities of Carlos Paredes’ work, highlighting, in particular, the musical origins that are closest and most familiar: Artur Paredes, his father, Gonçalo Paredes, his grandfather, and, in this context, the connection to Coimbra, eternized by the Academy and by the hands of those who pass through it and are inspired by it.

“This is a heartfelt and sincere tribute. It reflects the life, work, and importance of the master for the Coimbra guitar and for Portuguese culture through my own example of dedication to his work—over twenty years—always with the spirit of artistic mission and inspiration. Although I never had the honor of meeting him personally, I will share surprising episodes from my personal life that contributed to creating a very special connection with him. I will present one or two of my own compositions as examples of the inspiration drawn from his work. I believe that the recognition of the highest artistic value is expressed when, beyond the faithful interpretation of a piece, it serves as the starting point for a new creation.”

A native of Trás-os-Montes, Henrique Fraga was born in Chaves on July 20, 1983. He first explored electric guitar and classical guitar. He quickly became acquainted with the Song of Coimbra through his father’s voice, a student at the University, who inspired him to learn the Coimbra guitar. He continued his studies at the Faculty of Pharmacy and enrolled in 2001, the same day he registered at the Music School of the Fado Section of the Academic Association. It was there, under the guidance of his Master, Dr. Jorge Gomes, that he had the privileged opportunity to learn this instrument.
